Christmas 2008

I'm trying to catch up my blog a bit, as you can see this is Christmas of last year. Hayley was so excited to wear her new Christmas dress and Allyson just wanted to be like Hayley. They both looked beautiful. I love Christmas time! It's so wonderful to be able to focus on Christ and his birth.

Every year on Christmas Eve we go to Grandma Petersen's house for dinner and to open presents with family. We always have a wonderful time. Hayley was surrounded be wonderful presents, most of which were High School Musical items-which is her and Allyson's favorite movies. She was thrilled. Especially with the roller skates that she wanted so badly. This year, however, was not so great for Allyson. She was a little off all day Christmas Eve, and by the time we started opening presents, she was lying down and a lot and feeling very hot. We took her temperature and it was 103 degrees. She was not a happy camper! She snuggled with dad and pulled in her new blanket that Aunt Heidi made for her around her. It was so sad but also very cute!

Aunt Heidi made an awesome blanket for Hayley also that was High School Musical. She LOVES it!

It was really fun to have the whole Petersen family together.

I'm pretty sure that this was Hayley's all time favorite present this year-her new pink roller skates.

Allyson snuggling with dad.

Of course, the High School Musical headset microphone came in a close second.

My favorite that night was the DVD and CD sountrack to Mamma Mia-my new favorite movie. I haven't made Sven watch that with me yet-pretty sure he wouldn't like it very much. :)

Christmas morning was an adventure also...Allyson's fever finally broke and she was doing a lot better. Nanna and Pappa Mecham had breakfast with us and we all opened presents. Then my parents took Hayley with them to Aunt Becki's house and then to Aunt Amy's house for some time with them. I didn't want Allyson to share the sickness with her cousin, Madison, so we stayed home with her. Even with the sicknesses, it was a wonderful Christmas!

Allyson got a princess phone in her stocking...she loves to talk on phones. I wonder where she gets that from?

I think Allyson's favorite present was the Sharpay doll from you guessed it-High School Musical part 3. She loves those movies too! She calls them Bop bop to the wak. (Bop to the Top.)

Our sweet friends, the Wylie's, gave Hayley and Allyson Hullabaloo-Hayley was so excited!

Santa left a wonderful present for Hayley-a new princess bike. She wants to ride all the time!

Let it Snow!

We didn't think we would ever see this much snow in Henderson-but we were lucky and got a bunch! On December 17th, 2008 it started snowing around 1:00 in the afternoon and didn't stop until late that night. All of Clark County canceled school for the next day, the 18th. I had to laugh that my daughter was getting a "snow day" while she was in Kindergarten and living in Henderson of all places. We use to just wish we would get snow days all growing up in Salt Lake City and we hardly got any. I thought the entire event was just funny! We probably got 5 or 6 inches at our house! It was very exciting!

Hayley couldn't wait to get out there and build a snow man. She wanted to make a little one, so here he is!

Allyson would barely keep her hat on to cover her ears. She thinks it's suppose to be summer weather all year long!

Hayley loves snow!

As you can see Allyson loves to have her picture taken with her sister. It's always a challenge to get her to smile too!

Hayley was so excited to wear her snow hat and big coat.

Sven was working in Boulder City when it started snowing. It took him 2 and a half hours to get home that night, a drive that normally only takes about 15 minutes. It was quite the day!

Allyson was so curious about the snow-this was her first time ever seeing it! She wanted to play for hours in it!

Here's part of our back yard covered in snow!

A day in Boulder City

On Saturday, the 6th of December, we had a fun day together as a family. It started out with Hayley helping dad on the new floor for our hallway. They did a wonderful job together! Thank you Hayley for your help!

We spent the afternoon in Boulder City, Nevada. We went on a really fun train ride that they only run in December. The train had Christmas light all over and Christmas music was playing. Santa was even there. Both Hayley and Allyson loved it! Allyson was so excited to look out the window as we moved. Hayley was a bit nervous when Santa came but we still got a picture with him. I just had to hold both girls and Hayley wouldn't look. Santa laughed and said, "You'll laugh at this someday." We had a really fun time!

Sven was having a great time getting their reflections in the pictures as they looked out the window.

Weekend with family

After Thanksgiving was over, we were able to spend some time with my parents and with my sister Becki and her family. We had a good time and we were able to get some cute pictures of the cousins together and of our family. Hayley and Allyson love their cousin Madison. They have so much fun together-they usually spend the time just laughing. It's great!

Thanksgiving dinner

I wanted to add some pictures of my family having dinner. We had a wonderful dinner and Allyson, as always, was cute and loud, so she's not at the table for the pictures. She was off playing and having a good time.

Thanksgiving 2008

I am finally starting a blog and I'm very excited! They look like a lot of fun. Hopefully I can figure out how to get pictures on here easily. :) We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year with my parents and Amy and Heath at our house. It was filled with yummy food and wonderful company. I wanted to start out by saying how thankful I am for everything I have. I have been blessed with a wonderful family and wonderful friends. I love Thanksgiving because it gives me a chance to think about all the wonderful things I am thankful for. So, here's our family blog! :)
